Blog subscription
When you subscribe to the blog, I store your name, your email address, the language you chose for the emails, where you subscribed (pop-up, home page or blog page), and the dates on which you subscribed, confirmed and unsubscribed. I also keep a log of the emails sent to you: the type of email, when it was sent, and whether delivery succeeded.
This information is used only to send you blog emails: the confirmation request, a welcome email, a short email when a new blog post is published, and a confirmation when you unsubscribe. It is never shared or sold, and the emails contain no tracking pixels or tracked links.
The legal basis is your consent, which you give by confirming your subscription through the link in the confirmation email. You can withdraw it at any time.
How long it is kept
- A subscription that is never confirmed is deleted after 30 days.
- After you unsubscribe, your name and email address are anonymised after 24 months. Until then they are kept only to record that you unsubscribed.
- Email delivery logs are deleted after 12 months.
Unsubscribing
Every blog email contains an unsubscribe link that works without logging in. You can also send an email and I will unsubscribe you.
Service providers
The website and the email service are hosted by site4now, which processes this data on my behalf. The website uses Google Analytics to understand how pages are visited; Google processes your IP address and browsing data for this and sets its own cookies.
Cookies and browser storage
The site stores your language choice in the danny-language cookie. The danny-blog-subscription entry in your browser's local storage remembers whether you subscribed to or closed the subscription pop-up, so it is not shown again too soon. Neither is sent to anyone else.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or withdraw your consent, by emailing danny.verdel@gmail.com. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
